Winnsboro, Texas   -  Trails Country

Map of Winnsboro below Information

The Ole Fashion town of Winnsboro, Texas is located about 90 miles from Dallas in the northeastern corner of the state.  The history of this town goes back to the year of 1854, when the founder, John E. Winn passed through the east end of Wood County.  Winnsboro's original name was Crossroads, but was changed to Winnsboro, on April 17, 1901 to honor its founder.  From the wildflower blooms to the colorful Autumn leaves, the people of Winnsboro celebrate every season that comes its way with welcome, warmth, and kindness.
Spring has a festival with downtown Craft Shows, Trail Rides, Scenic drives and walks, cookouts, and so much more.
Summer brings a sense of togetherness and a definite urge for fun.  There are Patriotic Parades and Shows, Watermelon-Eating Contests, Swimming Parties for people of all ages, Camp Outs, Little League Baseball, and plenty more!
Fall brings real excitement. Winnsboro is known as The Home of Autumn Trails.  The entire month of October is a very busy and exciting month, but you can't help but take time out to admire and gaze at the heartwarming countryside.  The ground and even the sky looks as if the breath of Autumn has been painted on it.  Some activities, most of which are outdoor, are the Trail Ride, with a thousand horsemen or more, the Barn Dance, the Antique Car Rally, Camp Outs, BBQ Cookoff, Motorcycle Rally, "42" Tournament, Sidewalk Sales, Rodeos, Trick-or-Treaters, and lots more. People come from miles and miles around to participate in some of the greatest events in Winnsboro and to view one of the most beautiful places God ever created!
Winter usually brings a snowflake or two.  What a great place to be when it comes to the Christmas Tree Capital of Texas - where people come from miles away to cut their own tree.  The Downtown Tree Lighting events, the variety of Lighted Homes, the Christmas Parade - you do not want to miss out on these activities.
Winnsboro no longer rolls up the sidewalks at
5:00 on the weekends.  The Crossroads Coffee House and Music Co., LouViney Cellars & Bistro, Winnsboro Bakery and Cafe, and Trails Country Center
for the Arts offer Dining and Live Entertainment.  Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow once frequented this downtown area of Winnsboro.
